Employee Points Out Illegal Truck Registration and Is Allegedly Fired.

Employee Files Lawsuit against F. Greco Trucking LLC for Wrongful Termination
Robert started at F. Greco Trucking LLC as a tri-axle dump truck driver in August 2016. One of his duties as the driver of his vehicle was to report when equipment became faulty or needed replaced. He reported this equipment to the company mechanic, but then, according to Robert, the owner asked to be notified as well.
In June 2017, Robert noticed that the brakes on his truck needed attention. He left a note for the owner on the seat of his personal vehicle. Robert recalled that he received multiple missed calls on his cell phone and finally an angry voicemail. An hour later, Robert and the owner connected on the phone, and the owner told Robert that the truck would be looked at the following Saturday.
Once Robert knew the truck would be looked at, he gave it a thorough walk-around. He spotted that the truck’s marker lights weren’t working appropriately. After the truck was seen for the brakes, he noted that the brakes were fixed, but the marker lights were still broken.
He checked the truck over again, and this time, Robert realized that the truck license plate and truck registration did not match. He reported the issue to the owner, who called him into a meeting the following day. Robert explained the error. And according to Robert, the owner exploded, saying that he “thinks [he] knows everything.”
At the end of the conversation, Robert informed the owner that he wasn’t comfortable driving a truck that did not have proper registration papers and license. The owner allegedly responded that if he “didn’t want to drive the truck” then “go home.” Robert felt that he had been terminated.
Robert believes that F. Greco Trucking LLC wrongfully terminated him because he revealed that their truck registration was not legal. Now a client of KM&A, he fights for his employee rights. KM&A challenges employers who fail to comply with the law and punish employees with negative employment action.
