DOL Scranton

Project Description

The Department of Labor Scranton

The Scranton DOL office upholds the purpose and vision of the U.S. Department of Labor throughout Scranton and the surrounding area. The DOL protects the rights of employees, setting laws and administrations to regulate the safety and health of job workers, also including job seekers and retirees. Meanwhile, DOL continues to find ways to improve workplace environments, profitable employment, and work-related benefits.

Due to the size of the Department of Labor, the DOL Scranton office practices these goals on a city and town level, offering guidance to employers and investigating filed complaints from employees.

If you have a questionable employment situation, do not hesitate to consult with a DOL Scranton lawyer about your case because he or she can help you pursue legal action.

How Does The Department of Labor Work?

Basically, the Department of Labor investigates filed complaints, educates employers and employees on employment law, and delegates administrations to oversee and regulate the law.

The administrations and agencies, formed by the DOL to uphold the law, number more than twenty-five. Each group specializes in particular areas of DOL law, protecting the rights of American employees throughout the USA. We include a few here.

What Does A DOL Office Do?

As a rule, DOL offices are spread throughout the country, distributed over specific areas as either a region or a district. In Pennsylvania, a couple of DOL offices also exist in large cities, like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Furthermore, each office upholds the mission of the Department of Labor.

In Philadelphia, while the DOL regional office offers legal services to the Department of Labor, it also carries out trial lawsuits and represents the Secretary of Labor in most lawsuits.

In Pittsburgh, the DOL district office has many capacities but mainly investigates complaints involving the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or Wage and Hour Division (WHD).

Most DOL offices do the following but are not contained to only doing these.

  • Offers aid in filing a DOL complaint
  • Shares OSHA educational information
  • Processes investigations of complaints
  • Answers questions about WHD and OSHA requirements
