KM&A Celebrates PrideFest 2014

On June 15, 2014, Kraemer, Manes & Associates LLC celebrated PrideFest with the greater Pittsburgh area and the LGBT community in the first PrideFest since Pennsylvania’s ban on same-sex marriage was overturned. KM&A is proud to support the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community in Pittsburgh, across Pennsylvania, and nationwide.

While Pennsylvania has anti-discrimination laws to protect employees in a number of different circumstances, Pennsylvania has failed to enact laws designed specifically to protect LGBT employees from discrimination. Currently, Pennsylvania is the only state in the Northeast that does not protect its LGBT employees, even from blatant discrimination. At PrideFest, KM&A circulated a petition in support of ending LGBT employment discrimination to be sent to the Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation, Governor Corbett, and the Pennsylvania General Assembly. The petition specifically supported the passage of LGBT protections with the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) on the federal level and adding LGBT protections to the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act (PHRA). KM&A’s efforts and petition were strongly supported by the community, resulting in successfully obtaining in excess of 1100 signatures in support of ending LGBT employment discrimination.

KM&A would like to thank the greater Pittsburgh area and LGBT community for the great turnout and showing of support.
