Project Description
Arbitration Panel Attorneys
Under Pennsylvania law and depending on the county, lawsuits under a certain dollar amount must go through a mandatory arbitration process. This step is required before the case is heard by a judge or jury. A panel of attorneys replaces the judge and jury at this level, but the procedure is otherwise very similar to a courtroom trial. The parties bring witnesses to present testimony and to be cross-examined. They are permitted to make opening statements, objections, closing arguments, and the rules of evidence are applicable. The ruling of this panel is binding unless it is appealed.
