Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance Files Lawsuit against Former Dance Instructor

Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance dedicates time and resources to providing the best dance education to students of all ages. In 2010, the school of dance hired Gerard to join their talented dance instructors. He allegedly signed an employment agreement with non-compete and non-solicitation obligations, including the requirement that at the end of employment Gerard would not teach dance within a 25 mile radius of the school for five years.

At the school of dance, Gerard helped create a strong dance community, and became friends with many of the instructors and students. Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance viewed Gerard as an integral part of the community. However, in 2014, Gerard resigned.business man sitting and looking over paperwork

After leaving the school of dance, Gerard joined Impact Dance Center as the Curriculum Director and Ballet Master. This dance school is within the 25 mile radius of two of Sandra Lynn’s locations, in violation of the agreement. Also, Gerard once again violated the agreement when he allegedly solicited students to join Impact Dance outside of Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance. Gerard’s actions of solicitation and position at this new center allegedly has cost Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance the sum of $96,404 per year. This does not include future revenue.

Further breaking promises made in the employment agreement, Gerard teaches at RFG Association of Performing Arts as a private teacher, which is also within the 25 mile radius of Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance. Despite understanding the employment contract and signing it, Gerard ignored his legal obligations to Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance, severely damaging their yearly income. KM&A fights against blatant disrespect of the law and challenges actions like Gerard’s.
