Employee Files Lawsuit against Kiddie Academy of Collegeville for Sexual Discrimination

April accepted a position as an assistant teacher at Kiddie Academy of Collegeville in February 2017. At the school, April reported to a female boss. Her boss had no scruples to make inappropriate and sexual comments to her allegedly within earshot of the children. According to April, her boss routinely told April that she had “turned straight girls gay” and that she wanted “nothing to do with them after they would be on [her] dick.”According to April, her boss routinely told April that she had “turned straight girls gay” and that she wanted “nothing to do with them after they would be on [her] dick.”

When her boss made the remarks to her, April repeated that she was not interested in her boss sexually and that these comments were inappropriate. April claims that her boss only responded to her refusals by asking April to visit clubs with her. When her boss continued the sexual comments, April reported the harassment to the owner of the school.

That same day, April was fired. April shared that she was told that she was being fired for the “drama” caused by her relationship with her boss and for attendance issues. According to April, those attendance issues referred to days she was sent home because they were overstaffed, inclement weather, and strep throat recovery time. Meanwhile, April noticed that her boss received no discipline for her sexual harassment. April believes that she was fired because she reported the sexual harassment.

As a client of KM&A, April fights for her employee rights under the law. No employee should report sexual harassment and be fired allegedly for it. KM&A challenges employers who try to take advantage of employees and not uphold the law.
