Why we love working with small businesses

You have probably enjoyed their unique pizza: piping hot from the oven with cold fresh toppings. We enjoy representing them because they are a great example of a local Pittsburgh small business.

At Kraemer, Manes & Associates LLC, we pride ourselves on offering excellent service to small businesses and small business owners. There are lots of huge corporate businesses in America. But like many in the business-to-business world, we prefer working with small and medium companies instead. Here are some of the reasons:

1. Small businesses keep money in the local economy

A lot of the money you spend at corporate stores goes out of the community, out of the state, and even out of the country. On the other hand, money you spend at local establishments and franchises stays largely in the community. It supports the employees, vendors, and business partners in the community who work with the small or medium business.

2. Small business owners are passionate about their work

In our experience, business owners are a different breed of people. They didn’t pick a business at random. They picked something they were passionate about. We love what we do at KM&A, and we love working with owners who are just as passionate about their work.

3. Small businesses are engaged with the community

Local businesses don’t have to slice the population into demographic pigeon holes for cold analysis. They know their neighbors and customers, so they know how to serve their needs.

4. Small business owners are hard-working people

Nobody works harder than the owners and managers of small businesses. They start early and stay late. In between, they manage the marketing, employees, finances, and the business itself.

5. Small businesses don’t need a legal department

Large corporations have full-time attorneys on staff. They have in-house counsel and even entire departments to handle their legal issues. A smaller business employing a few dozen people would never need one of those employees to be a full-time attorney. But when legal issues arise, every good business needs a good business attorney. We may not work full-time on location at our clients’ businesses, but we are just a phone call or email away.

The culture that makes Pittsburgh such a great place to live comes from the small business community. Restaurants, stores, innovators, and entrepreneurs constantly bring new ideas and rich variety to our city. At KM&A, we want to help as many small businesses succeed as possible. If you need one last reason to love small business, just try some pizza from Beto’s.
